I create visual art and creative writing. My education includes an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, a BS and BA from Winthrop University, and coursework at UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke University Continuing Studies. I have taken visual art classes and workshops through City Art, the Arts Council of York County and the Art Students League in New York. I have held numerous jobs to support my studies, including working as a bosun’s mate, a long-haul trucker, a lab technician, a barista, a university instructor and a kayak guide.
My poem “Error” appeared in The Examined Life Journal and my poem “Capsize” was published in The Cotton Alley Writers Review as an honorable mention. My poem “Passing Among Strangers” is forthcoming in the 2021 Hippocrates Awards Anthology. My fiction has appeared in Ploughshares and my nonfiction in SIC : a Journal of Literature, Culture, and Literary Translation. I am at work on finding a home for my poetry chapbook, and on completing a novel and a nonfiction book.
