My painting, Tega Cay Living Memorial Garden, pictured below, is on display with others from the Catawba River Art Guild members from January 27th- March 19th 2022 in the Bliss Gallery in Belmont, NC. It’s a 7″ x 5″ oil on linen on panel, with a wooden floater frame. It’s priced at $130.

I do both visual art and creative writing. My education includes an MFA from the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, a BS and a BA from Winthrop University, two years of Great Books Program study at St. John’s College, and coursework from UNC-Chapel Hill and Duke University Continuing Studies. I have taken visual art classes and workshops through City Art, the Arts Council of York County and the Art Students League in New York. I have held numerous jobs, including working as an office assistant, a busgirl, a bosun’s mate, a security guard, a long-haul trucker, a lab technician, a barista, a night technician at a primate facility, a university-level writing instructor and a kayak guide.
My poem “Passing Among Strangers,” a third-place contest winner, was published in the 2021 Hippocrates Awards Anthology. My poem “Error” appeared in The Examined Life Journal and my poem “Capsize” was published in The Cotton Alley Writers Review as an honorable mention. My fiction has appeared in Ploughshares and my nonfiction in SIC : a Journal of Literature, Culture, and Literary Translation. I am at work on finding a home for my poetry chapbook, and on completing a novel and three nonfiction books.
